About

My name is Joshua A. Miller. I have a PhD in Philosophy from Penn State, where I wrote a dissertation about Hannah Arendt.

I am the Research & Advocacy Director at Open City Advocates. Previously, I directed the Prison Scholars Program and managed the Pivot Program, and taught philosophy at Georgetown University. I was also the editor of The Good Society.

This guide to free philosophy resources is the most popular post on the blog. Many people also like my public policy game show proposal and this discussion of my time investigating police misconduct.

You can find a bit more about my blogging alter-ego anotherpanacea here.

My interests include institutional design,  civic republicanism, ‘equality of what’, economic globalization, status emotions, epistemic deference, democratic deliberation, superfluousness, onto-political theologies,  and personhood issues (especially anonymity, autonomy, agency, and accountability.)
