Happy Constitution Day!

by Joshua on September 17th, 2008

One of our household’s favorites holidays is Constitution Day! On this day in 1787, members of the Constitutional Convention signed the final draft of the document that governs us all. Since 2004, all schools who receive federal funds have been required by law to hold educational events on this day.

Even if you’re not receiving federal funds this September, you should really bone up on the Constitution today, because it’s cool! Reread the document that got this whole shebang started. Watch Linda Monk discuss her book, The Words We Live By: Your Annotated Guide to the Constitution. Read some of the Federalist Papers interpreting and recommending the Constitution to the American people. Catch up on the latest Constitutional controversies over at SCOTUSBlog!

I’ll be celebrating by explaining the problem of preambles in Plato’s Laws to a class of sleepy undergraduates! Solon and thanks!
